"fire keeper"

137artsncraft - fire keeper.png

My favorite piece so far. This was a birthday gift for a dear, dear friend of mine. I was fortunate to find a really large sheet of marbled orange mulberry paper at a local shop, which was perfect for cutting out different shades of orange to brown, and with a texture like canvas! Much needed for this piece. I scored the black background on a laser cutter initially, then "tuned it up" by hand. The rest is free-hand-cut.

I really like the way the sky gives the impression of smoke coming from the top of Tipi, the way the glitter works for sparks, and the way the grass in the background looks so real.  What's so fun about this piece is that at the right angle, it catches the light and the fire really lights up, making it seem like it really is lit from within! So fancy.
